The Verdisian Government has officially announced its anticipated new generation of passports, highlighting the governments efforts in producing a secure national document with security features to match others states.
The announcement itself has sparked discussions across social media platforms, with a mix of users expressing support and enthusiasm for the changes while others show concern over the costs the improvements have brought in the production of identification documents.

According to the statements posted by the government, the new passport documents aim to enhance security with new security features.
The Government statement said "These passports have much stronger security features including UV, holograms, new data page printing techniques, and more. The passport has been completely redesigned, from the cover to the visa pages."
In addition to this, it was mentioned that the previous generation of passports will remain valid until their expiry date, but the generation will no longer be issued.
Verdis Live reached out the Verdisian government in response to the concerns raised online.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs Domagoj Budetić responded to our question stating: "The cost of passports, citizenship applications and e-Residency applications (both Basic and Plus) will not increase even with the new security measures."
"The government has discussed in detail an alteration of prices and have decided against it."
It is clear that the government has invested into the newly designed passport with the intention to increase it's security, while not influencing the purchase price of the document itself.
However, in the announcement it was left unclear how these changes will affect the recognition of Verdisian documents down the line.
One online commentor said "Once these passports are legally recognised by other nations, I’ll buy one."
The Minister of Foreign Affairs Domagoj Budetić said "The security is of course a priority. Official documents need to be secure and difficult to undergo forgery."
"Recognition is also of importance, since the public looks at many things out of principle. Something looking official and being official is usually interchangeable to most people. But we are focusing our efforts for recognition on Croatia and Serbia due to them being our neighbouring countries."
With the recent increase in interest and applications for the e-Residency program, these updates seem timely and necessary in preparation for the influx of identity documents issued. However, it will become apparent over the coming weeks and months how much the investment will pay off, and how much influence it will create.
Verdis Live will continue to report on this topic if more information or statements are released.
